Artist Statement

Unimuke Agada is a Brooklyn-based multi-disciplinary artist and designer. He is primarily interested in evaluating the human form, most typically in domestic, intimate, or otherwise quiet and familiar settings. The work employs a unique visual language that communes the bold innovation of abstract expressionism with figuration. The end result seeks to be both challenging and satisfying, as it takes an inert subject and injects it with a sense of movement  and emotionality. His practice is informed by his youth surrounded by Nigerian art and textiles, a background in graphic design, and a passion for accessibility.
